Fee’s

The following descriptions are detailed so that you have a better idea of how many treatments your symptoms may require as well as to know which session to book when enquiring online or via telephone.

Acute Patient – This is used to describe new and recent (<1 week) symptoms. Often conditions are still very painful and movement is limited. If your symptoms are less than 24 hours, please call for management advice, we will often encourage you to stay at home as treatment doesn’t always make things better at this stage. Acute symptoms tend to require 1 – 4 sessions. Your osteopath will then discuss with you whether you need any more treated over a protracted period to prevent reoccurrence.

Sub Acute Patient – This is used to describe symptoms that are between 2 and 8 weeks old. The symptoms may have reduced in intensity but not gone away. Some activities of daily living (ADL’s) or simple movements, will still cause symptoms to ‘flare’. These symptoms have had time to develop compensation mechanisms. The original injury has not been able to mend and other areas are now starting to complain. These symptoms will often take between 4 – 8 sessions to correct, but could take more.

Chronic Patient – This term is used to describe symptoms from 8 weeks to many years. Chronic symptoms, particularly ones that have been troublesome for many years, require a multi disciplinary approach (e.g. GP, specialist, counselling, lifestyle change). You may find that treatment gives you symptom relief, but how long that relief lasts will depend on the individual case and what other changes are being made. These symptoms often require a maintenance treatment protocol, alongside other adjuncts.

Telehealth / Video consultation – This is an initial or follow up consultation, without treatment performed over the phone or by video. We are able to assess your condition and provide advice for acute management +/- referral, or provide ongoing care for a known condition over the phone / by video link. This treatment type enables you to start or continue your care without the need for face to face contact.

During the consultation, we can take a full medical case history, take you through a physical examination or provide you with a diagnosis and management advice +/- referral. You may wish to schedule hands on treatment for another time, if appropriate. This session will last 20 minutes.

Triage assessment – This is an initial consultation without treatment. During the assessment, we will take a full medical case history, take you through a physical examination and provide you with a diagnosis and management advice +/- referral. You may wish to schedule hands on treatment for another time, if appropriate. This session will last 20 minutes.

Initial Consultation – This is an initial assessment with treatment. During the consultation, we will take a full medical case history, take you through a physical examination and provide you with a diagnosis, management advice +/- referral, before providing hands on treatment. Double Follow Up Consultation – This is a longer hands on treatment session for those who have had an initial assessment, or triage appointment. It is designed for people who need more time due to; having a complicated symptom picture, require a slower treatment style, have difficulty with moving due to disability or age. Please discuss with us before booking this treatment for the first time. It is more likely that we will request fo you to book this session if applicable. This session is also useful for people who have not attended for >5 years as it allows sufficient time for us to review your medical history again. This session will last between 45 – 60 minutes.

1 – 2 -1  Exercise session – This is for a 30 minute rehabilitation / exercise session. This session can only be booked after an initial consultation or triage assessment. If your symptoms don’t require hands on treatment / no longer require hands on treatment, you may be invited to book an exercise session with us. During this session we will take you through specific, low equipment exercises for you to perform at home.
